Editorial commission for History Extra (formerly BBC History Magazine) January 2026 Issue.

The article focused on the adventures of Vikings throughout the Mediterranean -

an area of the world we least expect to visualise them in! The article was written by Thomas Williams.

I found this commission delightfully challenging - a double-page spread with three spot illustrations. All complement each other with a warm colour palette, providing consistency and evoking the Mediterranean climate.

​

The illustrations either express great dynamism or sophisticatedly utilise metaphor/motif to illuminate the text.
